The Old Tower and the  storm  of June 3rd 2003

The wind velocity  reached up to a 200 km/h.

The tower twisted and then collapsed.

Pictures tell the story.

Fortunately we had insurance which covered the damages.

Look!

No hands!

I’m not scared of

hights — says Markku,

OH6MF

He sits on top of the very first

6 m section.

Arto

OH6LO

and Markku

OH6MF are

wondering

if the lifting system

will work

or not.

It worked fine!

Arto — OH6LO — the  tower expert, keep eye on Markku  - OH6MF— ”will it work out”? Yes, it will!

Up it goes!

5 element 20 m yagi

on the way to the tower.

Boom lenght 20 ft—12 m.

fine tuning

20 m 5 element yagi.

Would

you like

to try this

out?

I would

not!

Ready to

go up to

120 ft

Everything seem to be fine. Markku gives okay for the lift. Please note the weather conditions during the antenna work! The temperature was  - 17 C ( 1 f )

Bigboy rotator is mounted on 18 meter level. The upper section of the tower rotates. Bearing is mounted just below of a 20 m yagi.

Meanwhile the tower and antennas were down, the Hidaka vertical was the ”main” antenna for my HF-working. ” Better than nothing.” An unique experience for a ”yagi-ham” to operate with a vertical.

7 pcs of 6 meter

(20 ft) tower sections

were used.

Another one going up.....

Supporting

tower was used to help the assebly

process.

Transmitting SRAL news bulletin for OH-hams on 80, 40 & 2 m bands simultaneously. Henry has been so called ”news anchor” for over 28 years for SRAL. Bulletin is transmitted every Saturday 3 pm local time. Henry’s turn is every 3rd Saturday. Two other stations take there turns 2nd and 3rd Saturdays. OH1A,  OH2K  and Henry uses OH6SRAL call sing. This is a voluntary ”job” for SRAL (Finnish Radio Amateur League) and our local  club station OH6AC earns small annual fee for taking care of  the bulletin service for OH-Hams.

My latest Motor Home model 2013 — Burstner Elegance i890

Above some pictures from our recent motor home trip around Europe. It was nearly a three-week trip. About 9500 km. Our trip started from Umeå – Sweden. We took a ferry boat from Vaasa, Finland to Sweden. A 4 hour crossing. Then we drove down to south Sweden Malmö, then through Denmark, to Puttgraden Germany,( One hour ferry boat to Germany from Denmark) down to Karlsruhe (Germany) then  to France, by Lyon down to Barcelona area in Spain, and to south Spain Malaga area. After that we headed to north by western Spain to the N. W. corner of Spain. Then to France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark and by Sweden back to Finland.

My wife Elisa and our 7 year old dog Saku were with me on a trip.

That was the first trip with this RV. It’s a 9 meter long vehicle. It’s equiped with 2,5 kW generator, satelite dish, two TV-sets, 2nd in “bedroom” and an air conditioning system. (There’s also driver air conditioning ) Extrenal WIFI antenna. It’s weight is about 5,5 t. (kg)

We lost our 8 year old dog 31.12-2013 and below you see the “reincarnation” of the  new one.
